South, Dimond remain undefeated in flag football

South and Dimond picked up flag football victories Saturday to set up a Tuesday night showdown between the city's two undefeated teams.

South scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter to defeat East 13-9, and Dimond intercepted five passes en route to a 40-6 rout of Chugiak.

Both teams are 6-0 heading into Tuesday's 7:30 p.m. Cook Inlet Conference game at Dimond High.

Trailing 7-6, South seized the lead on Rhylee Reed's 67-yard pass to Karsyn Decker.

The Wolverines held East scoreless on its next two drives. The T-birds scored the game's final two points on a safety.

South took a 6-0 halftime lead on a 21-yard pass from Shelby Ottum to Maris Soland. Ottum completed 7 of 15 passes for 113 yards.

East grabbed the lead in the third quarter on Fua Filoialii's 16-yard pass to Emma Butcher. Filoialii finished with 121 yards on 13-of-24 passing and 107 yards on 14 carries.

Defensively, Haley Cary pulled 11 flags, two for a loss of yardage, and Hailey Smith and Willow Oswald combined for 11 more for South.

Kimora Nicdao's six pulls led East.

Dimond 40, Chugiak 6

Angelline Nageak accounted for three pulls, two interceptions, two pass deflections and two touchdown receptions to power Dimond.

The Lynx boasted two pick-sixes, one by Nageak and one by D'Shanna Schuster. Schuster finished with two interceptions, two pulls and one touchdown reception.

Christine Cristobal provided Dimond with a productive ground game, rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.
