Undefeated Chugiak, Dimond square off in volleyball

The volleyball teams from Dimond and Chugiak will clash Friday night in Chugiak, and one of them will leave with its first Cook Inlet Conference loss of the season.

Both teams are 4-0 in the CIC heading into the 7:15 p.m. match, and both are coming off Wednesday night victories.

Dimond grabbed a conference win over Bartlett, and Chugiak stopped Colony in a nonconference match.

In the night's other match, West stopped Service in four sets.

West 3, Service 1

Propelled by Brooke Dexter's double-double, West rallied from a first-set loss to take a CIC victory over Service 25-22, 24-26, 12-25, 21-25.

Dexter totaled 13 kills and 15 digs for the Eagles, who also got 12 kills, nine digs and four aces from Alize Taliauli and 24 digs from Erika Bollig.

Service was led by Isabelle Watkins (7 kills, 6 blocks), Grace Wells (6 kills, 10 digs) and Megan Mathews (5 kills, 4 blocks, 3 aces).

Chugiak 3, Colony 1

Chugiak came back from a first-set loss to take down Colony 20-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-19.

Sophia Lestina powered the Mustangs with 14 kills and 11 digs. Isabelle Kaltschnee added nine kills and two aces, and Claire Schimmack supplied 31 assists and 12 digs.

Dimond 3, Bartlett 0

Alissa Pili led the Lynx with 12 kills, nine digs and two blocks in a 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 sweep of Bartlett.

Other Dimond contributors included Madde Shockey (6 kills, 7 blocks), Mia Ekstrand (6 kills), Hahni Johnson (5 kills) and Reilly Plumhoff (19 digs).

For Bartlett, Violett Togaga'e and Honey Togaga'e each ripped five kills and Lorylynna Atfua handed out nine assists.
