ACS runner clocks fastest time at ACS Class Challenge

Runners from Grace Christian won two of the four races Friday at the ACS Class Challenge.

Mazzy Jackson set the pace in the 3-kilometer girls race for juniors and seniors, and Gabe Martin breezed to victory in the boys race for juniors and seniors.

In the races for freshmen and sophomores, Anchorage Christian's Tristian Merchant and Kodiak's Malina Fagan triumphed.

Merchant posted the day's fastest time on a course that included a lap around Cheney Lake. He finished in 9 minutes. 54.4 seconds for the only sub-10:00 time of the meet.

The meet attracted runners from all across Alaska.

Juniors/Seniors – 1) Gabe Martin, Grace Christian, 10:02.1; 2) Wiliams Parks, ACS, 10:14.2; 3) Paul Winegeart, Kodiak, 10:20.8; 4) Luke Fritzel, Grace, 10:27.3; 5) Colson Voran, Tanalian, 10:42.6.

Freshmen/Sophomores – 1) Tristian Merchant, ACS, 9:54.4; 2) Neil Lindquist, Seward, 10:11.5; 3) Lucas Echenique, Galena, 10:20.8; 4) Connor Marbrey, Kodiak, 10:26.6.

Girls (top 5)

Juniors/Seniors – 1) Mazzy Jackson, Grace, 12:08.0; 2) Grace Annett, Grace, 12:37.6; 3) Carlee Merriner, Galena, 12:55.5; 4) Anika Witsoe, Cordova, 12:59.5; 5) Laura Ellis, Grace, 13:11.3.

Freshmen/Sophomores – 1) Malina Fagan, Kodiak, 13:00.2; 2) Sophia Coverdell, Grace, 13:04.8; 3) Reagan Lash, Grace, 13:05.3; 4) Malea Voran, Tanalian, 13:07.2; 5) Caroline Bohman, ACS, 13:27.0.
