West surprises South on day of shutouts in flag football

Defense ruled the day in a flag football game Saturday at South High, where the West Eagles upended the South Wolverines 6-0 in overtime.

The Cook Inlet Conference tussle featured seven punts by West, four by South and several defensive stands by both teams inside the red zone.

West finally broke through in overtime with Tazhay Wyche's 10-yard touchdown reception from Ah'Kayzee Galloway-Davis.

Ariana Harris sparked the West defense with nine pulls.

Leading the South defense was Brandi Sherwood with six pulls and Leiana Cox with an interception. Offensively, Rhylee Reed completed 11 of 32 passes for 108 yards for the Wolverines.

Dimond 13, Service 0

D'Shanna Schuster pulled seven flags, two of them for losses, to lead Dimond's defense in a 13-0 shutout of Service on Saturday.

The Lynx moved to 9-0 behind Kristine Cristobal's 3-yard run in the first half and Sunshine Meraz' 3-yard pass to Carley Bourdukofsky in the second half.

Hahna Wood's five pulls and Mahailey Sullivan's three pulls helped silence Service's offense.

Cristobal led the Dimond offense by rushing for 92 yards on 16 carries.

East 26, Bartlett 0

Fua Filoialii threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to propel East past Bartlett 26-0.

She completed 10 of 17 passes for 161 yards, including a 60-yard hookup wth Jessica Titzel for one of her touchdowns, and rushed for 78 yards on seven carries. Her other TD passes went to Amari Brown and Emma Butcher.

Titzel contributed on defense with a team-high six pulls. Kimora Nicdao added five pulls and three pass deflections and Dariah Sua Teo pulled three flags to help the T-birds get the shutout.
