All-CIC, Southcentral teams named

All-CIC football team announced

Cook Inlet Conference champion East landed seven players on the 2018 All Cook Inlet Conference football team announced Wednesday, including the CIC's top offensive and defensive players.

Running back Colton Herman was named the Offensive Player of the Year and the Return Specialist of the Year, while linebacker Hale Siulua won the Defensive Player of the Year award. Herman was also named a first-team defensive back for the T-birds, who went 7-1 to earn a No. 1 seed in this weekend's Division I playoffs.

Other individual awards were given to West's Su'a Asi (Lineman of the Year), South's Noah Winsor (Kicker and Punter of the Year) and Service's Stephen Blankenship (Long Snapper of the Year).

First-year Service head coach Kahlil Boling was named the CIC Coach of the Year after guiding the Cougars to a 4-4 record. West's Josh Garcia and East's Don Powell were named co-Assistant Coach of the Year.

Houston, Ketchikan sweep Southcentral awards

Ketchikan quarterback Brendan Wong took home Offensive Player of the Year honors in the Division III Southcentral Conference, which announced its postseason awards Tuesday. The 6-1 Kings also had the conference's Lineman of the Year in Stevie Byron.

Houston defensive back Apete Sasiu was named Defensive Player of the Year for the conference-champion Hawks, whose coach Glenn Nelson was named Coach of the Year.

Houston hosts Barrow and Ketchikan travels to Eielson for Saturday's Division III semifinals.
