Bartlett staged a first-round upset Tuesday in the Cook Inlet Conference volleyball tournament.
The fifth-seeded Golden Bears swept fourth-seeded West to advance to Thursday's winners-bracket matches at Service High. Also advancing were top-seeded Dimond, second-seeded South and third-seeded Chugiak.
Bartlett posted a 25-19, 25-19, 25-23 victory over West, which finished the regular season one game ahead of the Golden Bears with an 8-6 record.
All of Tuesday's matches ended in three sets. Dimond tripped eighth-seeded East, 25-9, 25-16, 25-15; South stopped seventh-seeded Eagle River 25-22, 25-22, 25-19; and Chugiak stopped sixth-seeded Service 25-23, 25-18, 25-18
Tuesday's losers will play again Wednesday at Service High. At 5:30 p.m., East meets West; at 7:30 p.m., Eagle River faces Service.
On Thursday, South and Chugiak will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by Dimond-Bartlett at 7:30.
In South's win over Eagle River, Cami Houser had nine kills and two blocks and Hope Todd tallied six kills and two aces for South, which also got 14 digs from Kylie Hurd and four aces and seven digs from Erin Doner.
