Anchorage Christian is hosting 14 teams in a basketball tournament this week, but the Lions only left room for two of them in Saturday’s two championships game.

The ACS boys and girls will both play for titles thanks to wins in Friday’s semifinals. The boys beat Eielson 67-57 and the girls cruised past Barrow 79-43.

Danilo Guzman’s 21 points led a quartet of double-figure scorers who carried the ACS boys. Frederick Onochie supplied a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lions will meet Valdez in the 7 p.m. boys championship. Valdez advanced by trouncing Barrow 63-52 behind Jalen Freeman’s 18 points.

For the ACS girls, Destiny Reimers racked up 20 points and 13 rebounds and four others scored nine or more points. The Lions will play in the 5:30 p.m. title game against Kenai Central, which sneaked past Nikiski 42-41. Jaycie Calvert led the Kards with 17 points.
