Dimond and Valdez routed their semifinal opponents Friday to advance to the championship game of the Alaska Prep Shootout at Dimond High.
Dimond used balanced scoring in a 64-21 trouncing of Palmer, and Valdez used 19 points and seven rebounds from Logan Heckathorn to bury Barrow 57-35.
The Lynx and Buccaneers will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday in the title game of the eight-team tournament.
Noah Brandon and Evan Hoosier each chalked up 14 points to lead Dimond. The Lynx limited Palmer to two points in the first quarter and fourth in the third quarter.
For Valdez, Heckathorn was joined in double figures by Ike Watson, who had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Bennett Hinkle, who provided 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Anthony Fruan led Barrow with 17 points.
Earlier on Friday, Eagle River and Grace Christian bounced back from close first-round losses to pick up consolation-round victories.
Eagle River tripped Kenai Central 64-56, and Grace Christian edged West Valley 54-52.
Eagle River, which suffered an overtime loss to Barrow on Thursday, got 16 points from Bryson Rollman, 14 from Jalen Jones and 11 from Ryan Atkins. Kenai’s Adam Trujillo led all scorers with 22 points.
Grace Christian played its second straight close game, this time getting the win. A day earlier, the Grizzlies lost to Palmer by four points.
Grace outscored West Valley 18-10 in the final quarter for the come-from-behind victory. Turner Goforth led the Grizzlies with 18 points, and Nathan Harriman and Nathan Ivanoff combined for 23 points. For West Valley, Terrell Peters dropped in a game-high 21 points.
