King Cove boys, girls will play for Class 1A state basketball titles

King Cove will try to become the king of Class 1A basketball Saturday night when it sends both of its teams to championship games at the Alaska Airlines Center.

The King Cove boys will meet Nunamuit at 4 p.m. King Cove advanced by beating Shishmaref 70-44 in Friday’s semifinals. Nunamuit won a shootout with Tanana, 88-77.

The King Cove girls face Tri-Valley at 2 p.m. Both won comfortably in the semifinals, where King Cove cruised past St.Mary’s 74-31 and Tri-Valley defeated Klawock 54-34.
