A dozen Service Cougars and a quartet of Eagle River Wolves signed on the dotted line this week to make their college choices official.

Among those who signed letters of intent in a Wednesday ceremony at Service High were two athletes who will compete at the NCAA Division I level. Grace Fahrney is headed to Gonzaga University to run track and cross country, and Eli Hermanson is headed to Montana State to ski.

Two others — Jacob Belanger and Julia Fetko — are headed to UAA to play for the school’s highly regarded Division II track and volleyball teams, respectively.

Fetko is one of many high school volleyball players who are taking their game to the next level. Among the latest to make a college choice is Chugiak’s Mackenzie Edwards, who on Monday will sign a letter-of-intent to play Division I volleyball at Oral Roberts University.
