Dimond, West Valley to meet in title game of Alaska Prep Shootout

Isaiah Moses and the Dimond Lynx piled up points at the free throw line Friday night to hold off Grace Christian during semifinal action at the Alaska Prep Shootout at Dimond High.

Dimond defeated the Grizzlies 56-46 to advance to Saturday’s championship game against West Valley, a 49-33 semifinal winner over Wasilla.

Moses sank 16 of 17 free throws en route to 33 points, topping his 30-point effort in a Thursday game against Palmer.

The Lynx enjoyed a huge advantage at the foul line, where they outscored Grace Christian 19-4. Dimond was whistled for six fouls to Grace Christian’s 17.

Jaren Miller led the Grizzlies with 14 points.

In West Valley’s win, Javon Phillips tallied 15 points and seven rebounds for the winners.

In consolation action, Palmer stopped Kodiak 44-34 and Juneau edged Chugiak 59-54. Cooper Kriegmont poured in 30 points for Juneau.
