West, Chugiak pull out close flag football victories

Ariana Harris caught a short touchdown pass in overtime for the only points of the game in West’s 6-0 win over the Dimond Lynx in a Cook Inlet Conference flag football game.

The Eagles won it with a 3-yard pass on fourth down.

Dimond came up short despite a big game from Skyler Coleman, who rushed for 99 yards on 13 carries and had seven pulls. Mai Mateaki had eight pulls, Lauren Tufaga had six — five of them for losses — and Ellie Cunningham contributed five pulls and an interception for the Lynx.

Chugiak 12, Bartlett 7

Brooke Storen threw for more than 100 yards and three players intercepted passes Friday to lift the Chugiak Mustangs to a 12-7 flag football victory over the Bartlett Golden Bears.

Chugiak’s touchdowns came on a scoring pass from Storen to Anna Rajek and a 40-yard pick-six by Aleah Madsen. Rajek and Elsie Davis also had interceptions for the Mustangs.
