Service shooters outduel Eagle River by slim margin to claim riflery win

The Service Cougars collected a 7-0 victory over Eagle River in a Friday night riflery match, but the competition was far closer than that score suggests.

Service shooters compiled a total score of 3,269 to edge the Wolves by 50 points. The Cougars won the A team match by one point, took the B team match by 15 points and won the C team match by 34 points.

Gabriella Ximinez of Service led all shooters with a score of 288. Eagle River’s Abigail Foger followed with a 286.

Five shooters scored 282 or better to lead the West Eagles past Chugiak 7-0 in a Cook Inlet Conference virtual match.

Camille Bennett and Hailey Hodgins posted meet-high scores of 287 to spark the Eagles. Lilyana Bailey had a 286 and Mariah Adler a 284 for the A team, and Mackenzie Hawkins shot 282 for West’s B team.

Carson Myren of South fired a 284 for the match’s only other score over 280.
