By winning their games in dominant fashion Wednesday, Chugiak/Eagle River and two-time defending champion South/Bartlett clinched spots in Saturday’s girls high school hockey title game at the Bonnie Cusack Outdoor Ice Rinks.
CER got second-period goals from Daphne Gray and Charlotte Kotlarchuk, and junior Rian Runyan scored twice in the third period, including an empty-netter, in a 4-0 victory over Dimond/West.
Julia Woolsey stopped 15 saves to earn the shutout while Dimond/West’s Zoie Campbell and Jersey Graham totaled 27 saves.
For the league’s reigning champions, freshman Tatum Lund had a pair of first-period tallies as South/Bartlett overwhelmed Service/East 5-0.
Freshman Lake Bethard and sophomores Janella Clerc and Allison Beloy also put the puck in the net.
Brielle Akagi posted her second consecutive shutout as the sophomore made 11 saves for South/Bartlett. The champs kept Service/East goalie River Scott busy in net, peppering the freshman netminder with 26 shots.
