Dimond Lynx run their record to 9-0 in flag football

The Dimond Lynx flag football team remained undefeated Monday with a 14-6 win over the Service Cougars.

The victory was Dimond’s third in five days and it upped the team’s record to 9-0.

Mai Mateaki and Lauren Tufaga scored first-half touchdowns and the Lynx kept the Cougars scoreless until the game’s final four minutes.

Mateaki’s touchdown came on a 57-yard run and was part of a big day — she rushed for 167 yards on 17 carries for the offense and made eight pulls for the defense. Tufaga scored on a 2-yard run and added one interception and four pulls, and Xiomara Chavez made eight pulls.

On Saturday, Mateaki rushed for three touchdowns and had four pull and an inception in Dimond 26-0 victory over Lathrop.

On Thursday, Dimond silenced South 31-7 behind three passing touchdowns from Kai Hibbert — two of them to Ellie Cunningham and one to Tufago — and two rushing touchdowns from Mateaki. Mateaki ignited the Lynx with a 62-yard touchdown run on Dimond’s first possession.
