Anchorage's Clair DeGeorge is bound for the U-18 Women's World Championship

Big day Friday for forward Clair DeGeorge of Anchorage, who was among 22 players named to Team USA for the 2017 U-18 Women's World Championship next month in Zlin, Czech Republic.

The Worlds are set for Jan. 7-14.

DeGeorge, 17, is a senior at Shattuck-St. Mary's, the prep school/hockey factory in Faribault, Minnesota, and she has committed to Bemidji State of Minnesota, which plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

DeGeorge in 28 games for Shattuck's prep team is second on the team in points, and tied for second in goals, with 14-20–34 totals.

She's got a excellent championship resume — three straight USA Hockey national titles. She helped Shattuck win the U-19 championship last season and was on title teams in 2015 and 2014.

One of DeGeorge's teammates at Shattuck is forward Avery Dunn, 17, of Anchorage, who owns 3-6–9 totals in 30 games.

Most seasons, several Alaskans attend Shattuck and play hockey for the Sabres.
