Anchorage goaltender and his US teammates leave World Juniors without medals

Anchorage goaltender Isaiah Saville and his American teammates will leave the World Junior Hockey Championships without any medals after suffering a quarterfinal loss Thursday in the Czech Republic.

Finland beat the United States 1-0 to send the Americans packing. It’s the first time in the last five tournaments that Team USA didn’t win a medal.

The United States finished with a 3-2 record at the tournament for players 20 and younger. It opened with a 6-4 loss to Canada but bounced back with a 6-3 win over Germany, a 3-1 win over Russia and a 4-3 overtime win over the Czech Republic.

Saville, a 19-year-old freshman at Nebraska Omaha, was one of three goaltenders on the U.S. team and did not see any playing time.
