Denali Strabel feasted on the women's field to win Thursday's Turkey Trot 5-kilometer footrace on downtown streets and Riley Howard topped the men's field by a long neck.
Strabel claimed the women's victory for the second straight year by covering 3.1 miles in 18 minutes, 20 seconds. That gave her an edge of 73 seconds on runner-up Mandy Vincent-Lang (19:33). Helen Wilson took third in 20:05.
In the men's race, Howard clocked 16:43 to edge Owen Marcotte (16:46) and Santiago Prosser (16:47).
The race, a fundraiser for the Food Bank of Alaska, featured more than 1,700 finishers.
The 5K drew 1,456 finishers and the accompanying 3.5K had 264 finishers.
Morgan Ekemo topped women in the 3.5K in 14:30 and Jordan Ross won the men's race in 15:19.
