Norris, Yeaton speed to Knoya Ridge victories

David Norris, the king of the hill last summer, served notice Thursday night that his reign may continue.

Norris, who won last year's fabled Mount Marathon race in record time, breezed to victory in Kal's Knoya Ridge Run.

He beat Chad Trammell by more than four minutes in the 8.5-kilometer race, which challenged runners with 4,500 feet of climbing. Norris won in 58 minutes, 8 seconds. Trammell took second in 1:02.12.

Jessica Yeaton dominated the women's race in 1:12:28, more than eight minutes ahead of runner-up Sheryl Loan.

In the shorter race, which featured 2,900 feet of climbing over 5.6 kilometers, titles went to Forrest Mahlen in 44:08 and Marine Dusser in 45:30.

Dusser edged Najeeby Quinn, winner of last month's Turnagain Arm Trail Run, by 29 seconds.

The race is part of the Alaska Mountain Runners' eight-race Grand Prix series.
