After two straight cancellations, Tour of Anchorage returns Sunday

For the first time in three years, the Tour of Anchorage will provide skiers with a chance to race from one end of the city to another.

Doomed two straight years by a lack of snow, the race is back this year. About 750 skiers are signed up to race 50 kilometers, 40 kilometers or 25 kilometers.

Online registration continues through 10 p.m. Wednesday at anchoragenordicski.com. People can also register during bib pickup Friday or Saturday at Alaska Pacific University, but they won't get seeded wave placement.

Bib pickup is at the Moseley Sports Center on Friday from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

The 50K and 40K races begin Sunday at Service High at 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., respectively. The 25K begins at APU, with classic skiers leaving at 10 a.m. and freestyle skiers leaving at 11 a.m.

All of the races end at Kincaid Park.
