Big results at Big Sky for Alaska alpine skiers

Three junior racers from the Alyeska Ski Club captured top-10 honors at the Western Region Championships that wrapped up Sunday in Big Sky, Montana.

The Alaskans were particularly strong in the boys' slalom, where three skies placed in the top 12. Hunter Eid led the way in ninth plae, followed by Connor Lane in 10th and Eli Seaver in 12th.

Lane also racked up a sixth-place finish in super-G en route to an impressive third-place showing in the overall standings.

Eid added a seventh-place effort in giant slalom and ninth in the slalom, and also demonstrated his technical skills to earn first place in the Skillsquest event.

For the Alaska girls, Sanne Casse grabbed fifth place in the super-G.

The age-group championships, for alpine skiers under 16, drew a field of 90 girls and 80 boys.
