A fast course plus rain during the morning races made for challenging conditions Sunday at the Coca-Cola Holiday Classic at Alyeska Resort.

Skiers in the Under 19 and Under 16 age groups competed in a pair of slalom races.

In the boys competition, U19 skiers Eli Seaver and Kevin Leach went 1-2 in the first race and then swapped places in the second race.

Seaver beat Leach by .94 of a second for his win. Leach’s margin of victory was a narrow .28 of a second.

In the girls race, Mary Grace Stahla captured first place in the first race and Randi Von Wichman recovered from a disqualification in the first race to claim victory in the second. Both are U19 skiers.

Stahla was 1.67 seconds faster than second-place Hannah Kragt, a U16 skier. Von Wichman’s dominant performance put her more than 2.5 seconds ahead of runnerup Ava Liles, another U16 racer.

Stahla grabbed third place in the second race to finish the day as the only girl with a pair of top-three overall finishes.

Racing continues Monday and Tuesday at Alyeska with U12 and U14 races.
