Tube park at Arctic Valley is open, and slopes will open soon for skiers and snowboarders

The popular tube park at the Arctic Valley Ski Area opens this weekend, with five sessions planned for both Saturday and Sunday.

Face masks are required at all times, and the lodge is open only for restroom use and ticket pickup.

Tickets are available online and can be purchased up to two hours before a session begins. The first session begins at 11:30 a.m. and the last begins at 6:30 p.m.

After this week, the tube park will be open from Thursday to Sunday.

And not long after that, Arctic Valley’s slopes are expected to open to skiers and snowboarders. Opening day is scheduled for Dec. 12, according to the area’s ski hotline (907-428-1208).

COVID-19 protocols include maintaining an approximate capacity of 400 skiers and snowboarders per day, which on rare occasions could mean a cap on the number of day tickets available.

“Note that we would only have hit this cap a couple times in the past 3 years, so we do not anticipate this having a large effect on day ticket purchasers,” according to the Arctic Valley website.

Face coverings will be required in the lodge, lift lines and chair lifts, and those who don’t wear them will have their tickets pulled.

“Aggression towards our staff for enforcing policies will not be tolerated and may be reported to Chugach State Park rangers for follow up,” the website says.
