The UAA alpine ski team opened the season by producing five top-10 finishes in four giant slalom races at the Denver Invitational in Aspen, Colorado.

On Sunday, Rebecca Fiegl of Austria twice skied into the top 10 for the Seawolves, finishing seventh in the first race and eight in the second. Teammate Georgia Burgess of Calgary placed sixth in the first race but she didn’t finish the first run of the second race.

On Monday, Didrik Nilsen of Norway posted two top-10 finishes for the UAA men. He was fifth in the first race and eighth in the second.

Men and women raced on separate days to lessen the risk of COVID-19.

The UAA cross-country team opens competition later this week in Utah.
