Northern Michigan blows past UAA 6-1, ends Seawolves' 4-game point streak

Northern Michigan halted UAA's four-game point streak Friday with a 6-1 victory over the Seawolves in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game in Marquette, Michigan.

It UAA's first lost worst loss since a 6-0 defeat to Minnesota in its season opener.

The Wolves raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first period before UAA got on the scoreboard on a Jeremiah Luedtke goal in the second period.

Northern Michigan added a goal in the second period and two in the third. Dominik Shine led the Wildcats (6-17-4, 4-12-3 WCHA) with a hat trick.

UAA (5-15-5, 4-10-5 WCHA) used two goalies, seniors Olivier Mantha and Rasmus Reijola. Each allowed three goals and tallied 14 saves.

The Seawolves played without their leading scorer, sophomore forward Mason Mitchell, who was forced to sit out after receiving a game disqualification following a Jan. 14 game against Michigan Tech.

UAA and Northern Michigan return to the ice at 3:07 p.m. Saturday in Marquette, Michigan.
