Juniors propel UAA gymnasts to season-high 190.900 in loss to Sacramento State

Led by career nights from juniors Kendra Daniels and Morgan Ross, the UAA gymnastics team scored a season-high 190.900 points Friday in a road loss to Sacramento State.

The host Hornets won the dual meet with 194.400 points behind a 39.100 all-around performance from Caitlin Soliwoda.

"This was a very strong effort," UAA coach Paul Stoklos said in a press release. "I hope this is indicative of our potential to score even higher this year. I've seen improvement up and down our lineup, and our experienced gymnasts like Kendra and Morgan are providing the leadership we need."

UAA started strong on uneven bars with a season-best 46.950, led by a career-high 9.6 from junior Madeleine Arbuckle, plus a 9.4 from freshman Sofie Riley. Ross delivered UAA's top vault score of the year with a 9.75, while sophomore Kierra Abraham added a 9.65.

The Seawolf veterans continued to excel on floor exercise as Ross and Daniels both recorded 9.725s, with Daniels' effort coming in her first counting floor routine. Exclusively a balance beam specialist before Friday, Daniels delivered on her expertise in the team's final routine of the night with a 9.825.

Meanwhile, Kallie Randolph earned a 9.725 and the Seawolves got 9.65s from Ross and freshman Sophia Hyderally.

Ross and Arbuckle both crushed their previous career highs with respective 38.325 and 38.125 all-arounds.

The Seawolves return to northern California in two weeks for another pair of Mountain Pacific Sports Federation duals when they face UC Davis, Feb. 17 and 19.
