UAA skiers rise one spot to 9th at NCAA Championships

Buoyed by freshman Dominic Unterberger's second straight 17th-place finish, UAA moved up one spot Friday to ninth place in the team standings at the NCAA Ski Championships in New Hampshire.

Unterberger delivered the ninth-best second slalom run in the field on Cannon Mountain to jump from a tie for 25th after the first run to his eventual 17th place in a combined time of 1 minute, 53.8 seconds. He also finished 17th in Wednesday's giant slalom.

Seawolves sophomore Anthony Naciuk finished 20th and senior Hughston Norton closed his UAA career in 31st.

On the women's side, UAA sophomore Alex Wells finished 26th, senior Katherine Lamoureux closed her career in 30th and junior Charley Field was 31st.

The Seawolves sit ninth in the team competition with 110 points. Denver owns the team lead with 419 points, ahead of Utah's 384 points.

The championships wrap Saturday with freestyle nordic events.
