UAA sophomore Danielle McCormick, who Saturday set a program record in the 800 meters, captured track and field Athlete of the Week honors from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
McCormick, of Soldotna, smashed the UAA record with a time of 2 minutes, 7.75 seconds Saturday at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. The previous record was 2:09.34 set by Ivy O'Gwinn in 2013.
The time is a NCAA championship provisional qualifying time and ranks third in NCAA Division II this season.
