UAA's Notz runs to 3rd place in 10,000 at NCAA championships

UAA's Dominik Notz finished third in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division II track and field championships in Bradenton, Florida, on Thursday.

Notz, a senior from Germany, now has eight career All-America honors. He gets a shot at another All-America finish Saturday when he runs the 5,000 meters — his last race as a Seawolf.

Notz crossed the line in 29 minutes, 41.4 seconds. The distance stud
was in the top five the entire race and surged into third during the final two laps.

Senior heptathlete Karolin Anders is in eighth position after four
events as she seeks her ninth career All-America award.

Anders competed in the 100-meter hurdles (15.35 seconds), shot put
(38 feet, 11.5 inches), and 200 meters (26.84). In the high jump, she established a new school record with a jump of 5 feet, 8.75 inches — third best in GNAC history.

She'll compete in her final collegiate events on Friday (heptathlon, high jump).

Additionally, junior Edwin Kangogo advanced to Friday's 3,000-meter
steeplechase final by placing seventh in Thursday's preliminaries in 9:00.44.

Wasilla's Mariah Burroughs ended her season with a 16th-place
performance in the same event, clocking in 10:46.7.
