Northern Michigan scored twice in the first 92 seconds en route to a 5-3 win over the UAA hockey team Saturday night at Sullivan Arena.
The 20th-ranked Wildcats led 3-0 after one period only to see UAA make it a one-goal game with second-period goals by Nicolas Erb-Ekholm and Nathan Renouf.
Northern Michigan extended its lead to 4-2 late in the second period, and that score stood until the game's final minute.
UAA trimmed the Wildcat lead to 4-3 on Alec Butcher's goal with 45 seconds left and the Seawolves on the man-advantage after pulling goaltender Olivier Mantha.
Northern Michigan answered with an empty-net goal by Troy Loggins with 19 seconds left.
Mantha finished with 22 saves and Erb-Ekholm and Butcher both finished with one goal and one assist for the Seawolves (2-20-4 overall, 2-15-3 Western Collegiate Hockey Association).
Loggins had two goals and an assist and Adam Rockwood tallied a goal and an assist for Northern Michigan (17-10-3, 15-5-2 WCHA).
