UAA runner McCormick posts swift 800 time

Dani McCormick, a junior from Soldotna, won the 800 meters at Saturday's Triton Invitational in San Diego with the third-fastest NCAA Division II time of the season.

McCormick registered a school-record time of 2 minutes, 6.17 seconds, in the race. Earlier this season, Skylan Webb of Colorado-Colorado Springs ran a 2:05.24.

McCormick won a Division II national championship in the 800 at the indoor track and field championships earlier this year.

She was one of three Seawolves to finish in the top four of Saturday's 800. Yemi Knight placed third (2:08.38) and Tamara Perez (2:09.75) placed fourth.
