With 17 games left in the regular season, the UAA hockey team is getting perilously close to matching a school record the Seawolves want no part of.

A 3-0 loss Saturday to Nebraska Omaha marked the seventh time UAA has been shut out this season. One more scoreless game and the Seawolves will equal the team-record eight shutouts suffered in the 2002-03 season.

After battling through two scoreless periods, the Mavericks seized control midway through the third period with two goals in a three-minute span. They got their third goal when they scored into an empty net near the end of the game.

UAA goaltender Brody Claeys stopped 30 shots in the nonconference loss, which dropped the Seawolves to 2-14-1 overall. Evan Weninger had 20 saves for Omaha, which improved to 5-10-2.

Both teams were scoreless on three power plays.

The teams will meet again Monday in Omaha. Faceoff is at 9:07 a.m. AST.
