No long goodbye for the UAA volleyball team.
In their final home match of the season, the Seawolves dispatched Seattle Pacific in a swift 86 minutes Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center.
A crowd of 1,201 watched the Seawolves wrap up the regular season with their sixth straight victory, 25-22, 25-18, 25-14. On Monday they’ll learn who they play in the NCAA Division II West Region tournament.
“This was a great win to keep our momentum going forward into the playoffs," UAA coach Chris Green said in a release from the school. “We’re excited to find out our opponent on Monday.”Sophomore Eve Stephens blasted 15 kills on .424 percent hitting and senior Vanessa Hayes had 10 kills on .375 hitting in her final home-court appearance with the Seawolves.
Vera Pluharova (5 kills, 4 blocks) and Kayla McGlathery (5 blocks) were a force at the net, where UAA outblocked the Falcons 9-4. Talia Leauanae come up with a team-high 13 digs.
UAA finished 22-6 overall and second in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with a 17-3 record, one game behind conference champion Western Washington.
The West Region tournament begins Thursday.
