A four-team men’s basketball tournament and a two-game hockey series will give Anchorage sports fans a post-Thanksgiving Day feast Friday and Saturday at UAA.
The UAA hockey team will take on Ferris State in a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association at the Seawolf Sports Complex, where Friday’s game starts at 7 p.m. and Saturday’s starts at 5 p.m.
At the same time, the UAA men’s basketball team is hosting UAF, Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech in the two-day Seawolf Thanksgiving Classic.
At 5-1, UAA brings the best record into the tournament. Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech are both 2-2, and UAF is 1-5.
The games are the first of four straight at home for the Seawolves, who open the Great Northwest Athletic Conference season next week with contests against Concordia and Western Oregon.
For the hockey team, the series against Ferris State marks UAA’s last home games of the calendar year. The Seawolves travel to Michigan Tech next week and don’t play again until a Jan. 4-5 home series against Lake Superior State.
The Seawolves are 2-8-2 overall and 2-5-1-1 in the WCHA. Ferris State is 4-9-0 and 2-6-0-0.
