Alaska City Folk Arts Camp

Play a new instrument, start a band, form friendships to last a lifetime! Alaska City Folk Arts is a five day music and arts camp. Kids learn folk tunes and traditions, and engage in arts that spark creativity and create community. Students select four classes, ranging from Fiddling, to Juggling, to Songwriting, to Swing Dancing! Activities begin before camp with sing-alongs and contra dances. Breakthrough Vocal Camp

Each singer will receive two 30-minute private lessons over the course of the two-week camp, focusing on vocal technique and stage presentation. Singers will learn the fundamentals of music theory, learning how to read and talk about their music. Marching Band/4th of July Parade

The band includes college, high school and middle school musicians, members of Anchorage's Community Concert Band, local music teachers, and moms and dads dusting off their instruments to join in the fun! Our director is Jason Edwards of Dimond High Band. Twelve members of the University of Washington Husky Marching Band will be joining us to work on marching technique. Their drum major will lead us throughout the parade. Limited marching percussion is available for rehearsals and parade.
