Video tours: See inside navigation centers for homeless people in Reno and San Francisco

As Anchorage leaders consider plans for a city-run homeless shelter, they’re taking cues from other cities about how it might look and function. Take a tour of two other navigation centers, one in San Francisco’s Embarcadero district and the other a much larger shelter in Reno, Nevada.

In Reno, more than 500 people stay at the Nevada Cares Campus which opened in May 2021 to shelter homeless people. Hear from staff and guests about what the facility is like. (Marc Lester / ADN)
The Embarcadero SAFE Center in San Francisco gives shelter to about 80 people with space for up to 200. Director Megan Phalon gives a tour of the facility. (Marc Lester / ADN)
