Man found shot in East Anchorage Monday

A man was found shot in a vehicle in East Anchorage Monday morning.

According to an alert sent out by the Anchorage Police Department on Monday, officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 1800 block of Muldoon Circle at 9:26 a.m.

Officers arrived and found a man shot inside a vehicle, according to the alert. The man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A police spokesperson was not immediately available for comment Monday morning.

Alaska's largest city has experienced several violent incidents over the past week. On Wednesday evening a man was stabbed outside a Midtown business.

Then on Thursday, police were engaged in a multihour standoff that ended peacefully near Lake Otis Parkway and Tudor Road. On Friday, after another standoff overnight, police found two people dead from gunshot wounds.

Police have said that the previous cases were unrelated to one another.

Correction: An earlier version of this story reported that a woman was shot and hit by a car on Wednesday evening. Police later said she was only hit by a car unintentionally, not shot.
