I hope people take the time to listen to Rep. Don Young’s speech to the Senate committee that considered Deb Haaland’s nomination for the head of the Department of Interior. He sounded nothing like the guy I voted against at every opportunity over the course of several decades. He was intelligent and kind and thoughtful and persuasive.
Deb Haaland is a brilliant Native American and deserves to be confirmed. As I write, I do not know how the vote will go.
Anyway, as for Don Young, I’m not sure what to think of it. Did Don suddenly change, or was I wrong all these years? Whatever, I’m very proud to call Don Young our representative.
