The 49th Estate is our answer to MTV's "Cribs," a weekly tour of Alaska homes and interviews with their owners.

In Wasilla, near the fire station, Cheyanne Smith lives in a modest house where she creates works of art of all types.

Smith has a cat, Snookie, who keeps her company while her husband works on the slope. She has a degree in visual arts, but rarely has time to spend on her own work. She works as a supervisory reviewer at the Blood Bank of Alaska in Anchorage.

Smith was born in Anchorage and grew up in Wasilla. Most of her family still lives in Wasilla, and she is never too far away from her father or sisters.

The main centerpiece of her house is her "epic kitchen," which houses a bar and an espresso machine. She entertains on a semi-regular basis, and has a reputation among her friends for being a great hostess.
