Troopers: Wasilla woman slammed van with five kids inside into house twice

A Wasilla woman was arrested Saturday after she allegedly rammed a van with five kids inside into a Palmer house twice, according to Alaska State Troopers.

At 10:09 p.m. on Saturday, troopers were called to a house near mile 5 of the Old Glenn Highway in Palmer.

Lisa Stewart, 47, allegedly drove a 2000 Chevrolet Astro van into the house of a family member two times, according to the trooper dispatch.

The house was knocked off its foundation and property inside the home was also damaged, the dispatch said.

When troopers arrived, Stewart "fled on foot," but was found "lying down in the woods" nearby.

Troopers said Stewart had been driving the van with five children who weren't wearing seatbelts when she slammed into the house.

Stewart was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, third-degree assault and reckless driving.

Troopers did not say whether Stewart or any of the children in the van were injured.
