Two people drowned Friday morning after a boat capsized in the Kuskokwim River near Aniak, troopers said.
Nick Levi was on a boat with Glenn and Nastasia Kameroff when it overturned about 15 miles downriver from Aniak, between Aniak and Kalskag, troopers wrote in an online statement Saturday. Troopers did not immediately say what caused the boat to capsize.
Levi flagged down help and troopers were called to the area around 8:20 a.m., the statement said.
Searchers from Aniak and Kalskag helped look for the Kameroffs. Troopers said Glenn and Nastasia Kameroff’s bodies were recovered and brought to Anchorage for an autopsy at the State Medical Examiner’s Office. Foul play is not suspected.
