Update, 12 p.m. Sunday: Anchorage police identified the 22-year-old man killed in a hit-and-run on the Glenn Highway early Saturday morning as Joshua Goodlataw. His family has been notified.

As of Sunday afternoon, police were still looking for the driver of a dark-colored pickup truck seen driving away from the scene on the inbound lanes of the Glenn Highway between Boniface and Muldoon at about 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Original Story: Police say they are looking for the driver of a dark-colored pickup that struck and killed a pedestrian walking on the Glenn Highway in East Anchorage early Saturday.

A witness called police about 3:30 a.m. and reported the person had been walking in the roadway and "was struck by a dark colored pick-up truck that was traveling inbound and that the truck had left the scene," police said in a statement issued Saturday morning.

The pedestrian, identified only as a male, was dead when officers arrived, police said. His body was on the inbound lanes between the Muldoon Road and Boniface Parkway exits, near Turpin Street, police said. Police know who the pedestrian is but he is not being publicly identified until his family is notified, police said.

The vehicle involved is described as a dark pickup  with some front-end damage.

The inbound lanes were closed after the incident but were reported open by 7 a.m.

Police were asking anyone with information to call 786-8900 or to provide an anonymous tip through Anchorage Crimestoppers at www.anchoragecrimestoppers.com or 561-STOP.
