Man crossing Tudor Road in Midtown Anchorage dies after pickup strikes him

A pickup truck struck and killed a pedestrian at a busy intersection in Midtown Anchorage early Tuesday, police said.

A man was crossing Tudor Road when an eastbound truck hit him at the intersection with C Street, police wrote in an online statement. He was brought to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Police have not identified the driver or the pedestrian. No arrests had been made by 11:15 a.m., but police were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, said MJ Thim, a spokesman for the police department.

Police closed the eastbound lanes of Tudor Road near the intersection at 7:20 a.m. for the investigation. The road was reopened at about 10:30 a.m.
