A man was brought to the hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound Saturday night in Northeast Anchorage, police said.
Officers were called to a home on the 1500 block of Beaver Place, near Cheney Lake, at 11:22 p.m., police wrote in an online alert. Two men had gotten into a verbal altercation when one of the men fired shots at the other, striking him in the lower body, the alert said. It’s unclear what caused the argument.
Police said 57-year-old George Whithey was arrested without incident and is facing a charge of first-degree assault. The investigation is ongoing but police said there are no other suspects.
