Anchorage police seek suspect in Spenard shooting that left man wounded

Police are seeking the suspect in a shooting in Anchorage’s Spenard neighborhood that sent a male to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday evening.

Police said they responded to the 1000 block of Chugach Way around 5:41 p.m. Initial information indicated that the shooting happened “following a disturbance between two males outside,” police said in an online alert. One male shot the other “in the upper body,” according to police.

Police said the suspect left in a vehicle, but did not provide further description of the suspect. There have been no arrests, police said.

Chugach Way between Cope Street and Indiana Street was closed Wednesday evening for the police investigation.

The Anchorage Police Department is asking that anyone with information about the incident, including surveillance footage, call 311.
