Alaska State Troopers shoot man in Palmer

Two Alaska State Troopers fired their weapons at a man in the Hyer Road area in Palmer, according to a spokesperson.

Troopers responded to a call described as a disturbance shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday, said spokeswoman Megan Peters.

When they arrived, they encountered an adult man armed with a knife, she said. He allegedly charged at troopers with the knife in hand.

Two of three responding troopers fired shots at the man, seriously injuring him, Peters said.

The suspect, who hasn't been identified, was taken to a hospital in Anchorage.

No troopers were injured in the incident.

The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting. The troopers involved have been placed on administrative leave for three days, after which their names will be released to the public.
