Hunter found dead pinned under ATV in creek near Palmer

A Palmer hunter last seen Sunday evening was found dead a day later, trapped beneath his all-terrain vehicle in a creek near Palmer.

Alaska State Troopers took a report just before 2 p.m. Monday that Michael D. Anderson, 59, had not returned from his hunt, according to an online dispatch.

"Investigation revealed Anderson was hunting near Mile 6.5 (of) Palmer Fishhook (Road) when his ATV flipped over, pinning him under the ATV in a creek," troopers wrote.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said Anderson had gone hunting Sunday before being reported overdue.

"It was called in as a welfare check letting us know he hadn't yet returned and friends said they were going out to look in a few places," Peters wrote.

Anderson was found dead just before 5 p.m. Monday, Peters said.
