Alaskans hoping to see "The Lion King" in Anchorage this fall can get a break on ticket prices if they act quickly.
"We're going to offer a 50 percent discount on selected seats and performances," said Jack Lucas, president of WestCoast Entertainment, the company bringing the show to Anchorage.
The half-price offer, which began today, is good for only one week. It ends at midnight on Sunday, July 19. It will apply to the "B" tickets for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evening shows only. Those tickets are regularly $62.
The discounted tickets are available at the box office of the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, online at centertix.net or by calling 263-2787. Parties outside Anchorage can call toll-free 877-278-7849. Box office and phone hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To get the discount online, you must enter the password "Alaska."
The Disney presentation, which Lucas characterized as identical to the Broadway production, will take place in Atwood Concert Hall from Sept. 2 to Oct. 11, the longest run for any major touring show in Alaska history.
