Wine of the week: Candor Wines Lot 2 Merlot

Candor Wines has come up with a very intriguing idea: Blend a few vintages together and produce a consistent and enjoyable varietal at a reasonable cost. Isn't that breaking the rules of fine wine? Well kind of, but rules are made to be broken. What I taste in their Lot 2 Merlot is a bunch of blue and black fruits wrapped around a sturdy tannic core. The complexity, depth and texture are meant to age, which makes it fun if you lose a few in your cellar. It's a nice drinker to lay in before your weekend. Costs about $17. Cheers!
