Wine of the week: 2010 Alexander Valley Vineyards chardonnay

The 2010 Alexander Valley Vineyards chardonnay is totally dialed in. From nose to finish, the wine is crisp and snappy. This is 100 percent estate fruit, so the Wetzel family has total control. Barrel fermentation is held to 30 percent, giving it plenty of complexity without any overbearing woodiness. The aromatics grabbed me right away with their focus and verve. The apple and stone-fruit mouth didn't disappoint either. Try a glass, and I'm sure it will bring a smile to your face. Costs about $20.
